Dear TASLA members:

I was recently contacted by an analyst from the Legislative Budget Board who is gathering information for the School Performance Review.   After our call, I have quite a bit of homework to gather to answer his questions about school libraries.   The officers of TASL and TLA staff are working on this as well.  This is a great opportunity to share information about school libraries in Texas.

To this point, I need your help.  How do you implement the Standards and Guidelines in your district?  Do you have a formal evaluation of your school libraries using these guidelines?  If you have data you have collected, forms you use, etc, would you send me a copy?  Do you mind my sharing your information with the analyst?  He was very interested in how these guidelines are used by individual campuses/districts.  Of course, I told him we had to state-wide data because there is no means for that data to be collected.

Interestingly enough, he also wants information on states who have mandated guidelines.
