At the high school and middle school levels, yes. For elementary, it depends on which school is used. If the school has a certified librarian, she is offered the opportunity to work during the summer. If the school only has an aide in the library, the

Not asked, but I'll volunteer that an elementary librarian partnered with the local Public Library's summer reading program a couple of years ago, and the school kept the library open for the community during the summer. That is good justification for
having a certified elementary librarian during the summer
