Dear Colleagues:
 
I am attaching the workshop schedule for the Secondary Librarians'
Academy Day (SLSA Day) for your information.  I am collaborating with
Region XI to sponsor a day just for middle/jr. high/high school
librarians.  I am hosting it in Arlington ISD on June 18th from 8:00
a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  It will be held at the Mac Bernd Professional
Development Center, 1111 West Arbrook, Arlington, TX.  76015.  Those who
are interested should register on Region XI's website at:

Workshop description is as follows:
Secondary Librarians are invited to participate in the first SLSA day
promoting the 21st century secondary school library. The guest speaker
is Michele Gorman, author of Getting Graphic! She is also the cloumnist
for SLJ’s "Teenage Riot" and LMC’s column, "Getting Graphic". Other
sessions include graphic novels, Chick Lit for MS & HS, Great Reads for
MS & HS boys, Secondary Book Clubs, Library Wikis, Digital Book Talks,
Web 2.0 tools, managing your library budget with Excel, Library
Orientation with a Hollywood Twist, Primary Documents & the National
Archives, using new videostreaming tools, online databases, & iGoogle
pages. An in-depth workshop will also look at the new College/Career
Readiness Standards. More details are available at

Registration is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  We will begin promptly at
8:30 a.m.  Our key note speaker is Michele Gorman, graphic novelist
